What 7x50 actually means

The first number is magnification: a seven-power binocular makes the target appear roughly seven times closer in angular terms. The second number is the objective-lens diameter in millimeters. Central focus versus individual focus

A central-focus binocular uses one wheel to move both optical channels, usually with a separate diopter adjustment that balances differences between the user's eyes.
