Reader trust

Privacy, disclosure and editorial policy.

How Nautical Dream handles information, earns revenue, makes recommendations and corrects the record.

Trust is especially important in boating coverage. A gear recommendation can affect a large purchase, and a destination detail can shape a navigation decision. This policy explains the commercial and editorial practices behind Nautical Dream. It is written for readers, not only for legal compliance.

Information readers provide

Nautical Dream may collect an email address and the contents of a message when a reader voluntarily submits a newsletter or contact form, sends email or requests a correction. Form submissions may be processed by a third-party delivery provider so the message can reach Nautical Dream. Submitted information is used to respond, deliver requested communications, prevent abuse and maintain an appropriate record of editorial correspondence.

Nautical Dream does not sell submitted personal information. Readers may request removal from a mailing list or deletion of directly submitted contact information by emailing info@nauticaldream.com. Some limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance or documentation of an editorial correction.

Technical information and analytics

Hosting, security, analytics or form providers may process ordinary technical information such as browser type, device class, referring page, pages visited, approximate location derived from an IP address and timestamps. This information helps identify broken pages, understand general readership and prevent spam. Nautical Dream does not need a reader’s precise location to provide general editorial content.

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Browser settings and privacy tools may limit cookies or analytics where available. Blocking nonessential tracking should not prevent access to the publication’s core articles.

Affiliate disclosure

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Nautical Dream may participate in affiliate programs. A qualifying purchase made after following an affiliate link can generate a commission for the publication without changing the buyer’s price. Links may use ordinary retailer or manufacturer destinations before a commissioned relationship exists.

Commission does not purchase a ranking. Products without affiliate programs may be recommended, and an article may advise a reader to keep existing equipment, buy used, select an uncommissioned alternative or make no purchase. The methodology behind gear coverage is described in How We Evaluate Boating Gear. Specifications, availability and prices change; readers should verify the exact model and package before ordering.

Sponsored content, advertising and supplied products

Paid placements, sponsored stories and material commercial relationships will be identified in language a reader can understand. Advertising does not grant an advertiser advance approval over independent editorial conclusions. A product supplied for evaluation does not guarantee coverage, a favorable review or permanent inclusion in a buying guide.

Destination marketing organizations, marinas and brands may provide access, background information or photography. Material support that could reasonably affect a reader’s interpretation should be disclosed on the relevant page. Access is a reporting condition, not an endorsement.

Editorial independence and sourcing

Recommendations are intended to reflect suitability, safety, installation, ownership cost, maintenance, failure modes and value. Primary sources are preferred for changeable factual claims: official navigation authorities, harbormasters, the National Weather Service, the U.S. Coast Guard and manufacturer documentation. Local observations are useful when identified as experience rather than regulation.

Nautical Dream is an editorial planning resource, not a substitute for current charts, notices to mariners, forecasts, product instructions, professional marine service or the judgment of the vessel’s captain. Conditions and operations may change after publication.

Corrections and updates

Material factual errors are corrected when verified. Safety-related concerns receive priority. Routine changes such as marina prices, seasonal schedules and product availability are reviewed during editorial updates, but readers should confirm details directly before relying on them. An updated date should represent a substantive review, not a cosmetic change to a year in the headline.

To request a correction, use the contact page and provide the exact passage, current source, relevant model or location and the date observed. Clear evidence makes a fast correction possible.

Photography, illustration and licensing

Nautical Dream uses traceable documentary photography, public-domain archival images and clearly illustrative graphics. It does not present an invented rendering of recognizable architecture as documentary photography. Photographs obtained through Wikimedia Commons retain the license shown in the source record and may be resized, cropped or compressed for web presentation.

Captions provide nearby credit where practical. The consolidated Photography Credits page identifies the image, creator, source and license for photographs used across article heroes, cards and features. Rights holders who believe a credit or license is incorrect should contact the editorial desk with the source file and ownership details.

Email and external links

Newsletter messages should include a reasonable way to stop future mail. Nautical Dream will not ask readers to send passwords, payment-card information or account credentials by email. Links to manufacturers, government agencies, marinas and retailers lead to external sites whose content, availability and privacy practices are outside Nautical Dream’s control.

Children

The publication discusses family boating but is written for adults making planning and purchasing decisions. It is not designed to collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information can request its deletion.

Policy updates and contact

This policy may be updated as the publication adds services, advertising relationships or new privacy requirements. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Questions about privacy, affiliate relationships or editorial practices can be sent to info@nauticaldream.com.
