Marine conditions

Know before you launch.

Simple marine conditions and practical planning for safer, better days on the water.

Built around boating decisions

Before leaving the dock, review the latest official forecast, radar, wind speed and direction, storm risk, visibility, water temperature, sunrise and sunset. Recheck conditions at the launch because shoreline weather can differ sharply from open water.

Captain’s rule:

If the forecast, the sky and the water disagree, trust the most conservative signal. Delay departure when thunderstorms, rapidly building wind, poor visibility or small-craft warnings are present.

Use conditions responsibly

Weather changes quickly on open water. Always verify official local forecasts, posted warnings and conditions at the launch before departing.
