Ask whether the ramp is open, whether the dock is installed, whether staff know of depth or retrieval constraints and whether any event affects access. A general “open” answer does not prove your trailer, draft or tow vehicle can use the current ramp. If the answer is uncertain, take the land-day kit and leave the boat home. Make the ramp inspection a real stop point

Before backing down, park legally and inspect the approach without blocking traffic. Look at the waterline, dock position, ramp end visibility, algae or mud, crosswind, traffic and the path from staging to recovery. Compare actual depth with the boat and trailer rather than copying another operator. A steep exposed ramp or absent dock may change who handles lines and whether a passenger can board safely.

Prepare away from the active lane: drain plug installed, straps and transom support handled at the proper time, lines and fenders ready, passengers briefed, electronics and bilge checked. Launch only when the operator already knows the no-dock plan. The first family loop should be conservative and reversible. Delta Lake does not need a far endpoint to justify the day. Choose a turn time based on weather, fuel, passenger energy and the ramp condition—not on a route drawn at home. Build the itinerary around an early recovery

Know the pet and accessibility boundaries

The park allows a maximum of two pets in campsites and day-use areas unless a sign or directive prohibits them. Pets are excluded from playgrounds, buildings, pools, spray grounds and guarded beaches, except service animals as applicable.

Low water adds polarized glasses for observation, suitable footwear and a boat hook—but none should be used to probe from an unsafe position or force a bad launch.

The land kit needs walking shoes, insect protection, picnic supplies, towels and a change of clothes. Keep it accessible rather than buried under boat gear.
